Tours

Discover the past and present of this magical city

Tours are a great way to explore New Orleans and learn about its deep-rooted, fascinating history. While you can join a group on any of the below tours, the concierge is happy to arrange a chartered tour to suit your interests.

Carriage Tours and Riverboat Excursions
If you want to enjoy the sights and sounds of New Orleans at a slower pace, a carriage tour or a leisurely cruise down the Mississippi River on a paddle wheeler will take you back in time. These are ways to savor the history of the French Quarter, take in the magnificent homes of the Garden District or experience one of the world’s most active ports while enjoying Dixieland jazz.

City Tours
An organized tour of the city is a great way to orient yourself. Whether by bus or van, or use of a private guide, the city tour touches on all of the major neighborhoods in New Orleans, helps to steep you in the city’s three-hundred-year history and may just reveal what you may wish to investigate further.

Plantation Tours
The Mississippi River is lined with the beautiful plantations built on the fortunes of indigo, sugar, cotton and trade on the river. River Road offers many exciting excursions into the wealth and history of the South. Full or half-day guided plantation tours are available. Alternatively, those guests who would rather enjoy the homes of the Antebellum South at their own pace can either arrange a car rental or hire a private guide.

Swamp Tours
Just a short ride from downtown New Orleans, guests can venture into the swamps and wetlands of Southeast Louisiana on airboats, flat-bottom boats or larger covered boats. Whether exploring the wetlands of Barataria or the nearly untouched river swamp of Honey Island, it’s not just a swamp tour – it’s an adventure!

Walking and Cemetery Tours
Guides will lead you through the wrought-iron-lined balconied streets of the French Quarter informing you of the history of New Orleans’ “Old Quarter” or spin a tale of ghosts on an evening haunted tour. In one of the world’s most dazzling neighborhoods, the Garden District, your guide will lead you through the architectural splendor of the oak-lined “American” sector of the city. For those who have a curiosity for the role Voodoo played in New Orleans, there are Voodoo History tours that explore the realities and myths of this curious phenomenon and the mysterious Marie Laveau.
